Winslow Arts Trust - History

History

The Smithsonian Institution Exhibit, Journey Stories, was hosted by WAT Affiliate La Posada Hotel in 2013. This exhibit was coordinated by the Old Trails Museum and included a series of speakers from the Arizona Humanities Council Road Scholars Program. To open the exhibit Road Scholar Dr. John Craft presented his documentary, “Along Old Route 66.” The Winslow Harvey Girls served as greeters and posed with Dr. Craft and museum director Ann-Mary Lutzick at the Harvey Girls welcome panel to the Journeys to Winslow exhibit. WAT worked with Old Trails Museum and AZ Humanities Council to create kiosks to display the OTM exhibit and to provide space and funding for the speakers program.

Born in Winslow in 1938. I am the grandchild of Archie and Stella Meikle and
Ed and Mary Clark, so have many family ties to Northern Arizona. I attended elementary school in Winslow before my parents moved to California. I am proud to see the history of this amazing small town loved embraced and taught to new generations of visitors to beautiful Northern Arizona. I wish you well. Gail Clark
